We ran our first Founders event in October around the topic of Burnout, and I was really unsure how it was going to go. We wanted to do something different, and we definitely raised a few eyebrows with the format, but never in a million years did I expect it to be so special.

It was an intimate event with an immersive orchestral performance by seidaensemble who were simply amazing, and a lot of connection, inspiration, brunch and coffee!

The Search are still a relatively new firm, and I launched the business in 2021 off the back of a lot of trauma in my life. I put everything into my business as a way of coping, as I couldn’t let myself think about what was happening, so instead I worked.

Whilst I’m proud to have built a successful business, it wasn’t necessarily the most healthy way to cope. They say start-ups take on the traits of their Founders and I have certainly experienced my fair share of mistakes along the way, culminating in complete burn out last year.

And I know I’m not the only one with a similar story – working with Founder/CEO’s of VC backed scale-ups directly every day, I see first-hand how their own experiences and struggles affect their culture and their ability to scale their companies.

When I sent the invites out I was completely overwhelmed with the response I got. It’s a topic that matters to so many Founders and creating the space for authentic conversations is so important.

Music has been my therapy over the years – nothing beats a good rave to shake off the stress – and watching such a powerful performance bring joy within a more corporate space was incredible.

Unexpectedly, the event ended with a beautiful open forum between musicians and Founders, where we ended up drawing so many parallels with the strength of teamwork, dedication and performance of the musicians, to how to create a successful, high-performing culture in business. We also had an amazing discussion around bringing music into the working world to spark creativity and alleviate stress.

Thank you to Charlotte Grace Webb at Lala productions who made the event happen. Charlotte has been the creative brain behind some of the best musical events in London, and she is also a dear friend of mine so it was amazing to bring our two worlds together. We thought it could work, but we didn’t realise how magical it would be!

My top tips for staying sane?
💫 Laughing at myself
💫 Perspective and zooming out
💫 Music of course 🙂

If you are a Founder wanting to join an authentic, like-minded community, please feel free to connect, and I’ll invite you to our next event!
